Daifukuji Soto Mission

Endowment

An endowment fund is a long-term investment in which the original donations (principal) remain untouched and invested, while only the earnings on that principal are used for specific purposes. The Daifukuji Soto Mission Legacy Endowment Fund Charter specifies that the sole purpose of the endowment's earnings are for the "preservation, maintenance and capital improvement of the Temple and its surrounding buildings and grounds." Contributions help fulfill these needs in a timely manner without undertaking major fundraising or depleting general operating funds.

Donations to the Legacy Endowment Fund are managed in strict accordance with the Temple's Investment Policy Statement, and overseen by investment professionals in First Hawaiian Bank's Trust Division. The Legacy Endowment Fund Board of Trustees provide another level of oversight in adherence to the Endowment's Investment Policy and Spending Policy.

The membership of the Daifukuji Soto Mission would like to acknowledge our deepest gratitude to the Buddhist Church of Sacramento and especially our good friends there, Allan Hoshida and Ted Yoshimura. The success of our Endowment Fund is due in large part to Allan & Ted's generosity & guidance, especially in our early startup phase. It literally saved us years of potential mistakes & struggles, and we will always treasure their continued support and friendship.
